The script is written and they're saying it's more of a standalone story than mytharc, conspiracy stuff. CC is directing DD and GA are returning, durr. Shooting is supposed to be begin on December 10th, 2007. The word on a release date is 25th July, 2008.
Maybe this thread is a shit idea but it would be handy to have a place where you can see all the facts at a glance, though facts may not always be applicable!

Fox has officially set a July 25th 2008 release date for its "The X-Files" sequel movie reports the trades.
Series creator Chris Carter will direct the still-untitled film which he co-wrote with Frank Spotnitz starting in December in Vancouver.
The film is confirmed as a stand alone supernatural thriller that takes the complicated relationship between Mulder and Scully in new directions but won't get into plot specifics.

One or two sites are saying June, July seems more widespread so I think that's more likely is attributed to Fox.

Its reportedly set in the present, so that will be 6 years after The Truth. :-)

How reliable is that site and maybe I'm just thick but I don't really understand the use of portions of old scripts, ehhh?

The information on there seems to be very similar to whats circulating on TwoP/Haven/Livejournal, I know chinese whispers abound with spoilers however :-) I think that the used scripts are possibly for the casting, maybe its what people auditioning need to read through? I really couldn't say for sure though, I have no knowledge of the casting process!

Perhaps that's a good thing, if they use old scripts as auditioning there might be less chance of a leak of the new one, Wiggy or Rich would probably know more about that than I do. I suppose someone can still get in character without reading the real dialogue. Will be interesting to see who they cast.
I think there was quite a bit of misinformation about the last film, think it's mentioned in the DVD extras.

A few from The Dark Knight were floating around the net over the summer which were confirmed as scripts used for minor actors such as thugs etc....it helps with the feel etc. For example I'm casting for my film over the next two weeks, the final draft of the script isn't finished yet but I created a rehearsal script that is used to see how the actors work together etc...it's quite common in some films, this seems like a project that is trying to get through production quickly (a little too quickly perhaps) so I wouldn't be suprised. By the sound of it this film was actually green lighted quite a few months ago...it makes sense.

So TXF2 may have been on the go for a while with only a handful of people involved? Perhaps when they start shooting they'll take a more steady pace...
What's your film btw?

Yes I definitely think that this project has been in production with the actors etc on board for a few months. If they are shooting next month then plans have been concreate for probably a year now, maybe more. I don't really have much of a grasp of how studio films work compared to independants but a film just isn't made this quickly after being greenlighted. I have a feeling that DD and GA have been signed up for quite a while and have just been told to keep quiet about it.
My film? It's just a short that I'm directing for my final year project. It's kinda hard to explain but it's about two people who live the same apartment complex. I'm shooting it on film for the first time in my life and it's costing me a fortune right now haha. Not shooting until Feb though as pre-production is taking forever.

That sounds fairly plausible Wigs. A year, that's fairly long, no? The script was only delivered at some point in the summer and before that CC was fighting with Fox. Maybe it's a case of; they only have one policy, deny everything. Will be good when we see some posters and artwork. I'm still concerned about the turnaround though, Dec-July is pretty tight, hmm. I read on wiki that when the Dark Knight was shooting in Chicago it was under an assumed name to try and keep people away but I don't think that lasted long. Good luck with your film, you should have a diary about it and director's commentary.

Ha, yeah they were calling it 'Rory's First Kiss.' They even stuck posters up around Chicago and London advertising it. I remember the news that CC was having the big fight with Fox (he's not producing the film under Ten Thirteen due to the outcome, or so I've read somewhere) which was only recent. Maybe a year is a bit long yeah but still longer than what they are letting on. Things have to be done to make sure before shooting, budgets, script breakdowns, insurance...all the boring stuff which can take months. But I don't know really...it's apart of the Fox studio and I'm not 100% sure how things happen in the studio system in Hollywood. All I do know is that I can't wait until it comes out Thankies for good luck...I have to keep a diary for paper work purposes. But I'm actually keeping a day by day diary of my last uni year for my own...not sure about the commentary Ahab

Is Ten Thirteen defunct then? Yeah, I can imagine those things taking a fair amount of time, I suppose there might have been a lot of behind the scenes stuff to take care of before they penned in the shooting and release dates. Secret meetings..all very XF. Hopefully, all things going well in production and creative juices having had time to recover over a few years they'll manage to produce a cracker! I presume we can expect a teaser trailer at some point in the spring.

I really hope they can yeah...it'll be awesome to remember the memory with a high quality movie Going back to what I said recently...I guess the guys over there know how to put out a movie in quick progress, I mean they made around 20 episodes a season I guess...for some reason I never thought of that! I be stupid. From what I hear Ten Thirteen isn't defunct, CC just isn't using it to produce the movie. Instead it's The Crying Box Productions (doesn't have the same ring does it?) ...but I read that online so could be a load of bull.

We can but hope...
Nope, that doesn't have the same ring to it, heh. I don't know much about the whole production process either, I mean comparing it to other films such as say...Dark Knight and the new Star Trek film does it seem a bit rushed? OK, those things were pretty much guaranteed sequels but their production seems longer and more fleshed out, or something. This may not make any sense. Still have concerns but if what you reckon about them keeping it hush is true maybe it will all come out OK in the wash.
I stumbled across some site yesterday that seemed to have a bit of info but it could have been bollocks. Can't remember the site off hand though.
