Picture of Gillian Anderson looking serious and little boy with the caption - Gillian never tired of the X files Trivia game.
Details TBC/TBC/August 26 Director Pearse Elliott Starring robert Carlyle, Gillian Anderson and Ken stott
A boy-dog bonding story set against the backdrop of a post-conflict northern ireland, this is notable for the casting of gillian anderson as a working-class single mum. While Irish natives may not be fooled, her performance is confident enough to convey one of the film's better-written roles, a woman marked by the death of her brother and hesitantly shopping for a new father for her son. But the knowledge of anderson's nationallity accentuates the artificiality of this belfast. robert Carlyle's ex IRA man merely pays lip service to his supposed reformation, while young newcomer Tyrone McKenna is ill-equiped to fill the considerable gaps in the script with displays of convincing emotion. there's promise in the bursts of dark humour, but these are few and far between, only serving to remind us how much better directors like Ken loach have dealt with the coming-of-age genre. - Anna Smith

Wouldn't be the first film I've seen which got a bad review that I saw and thought was good and anyway what do film critics know? on the whole they're utterly dismissive to work that doesn't match their personal tastes.

[glow=red,2,300]i find that they are always very harsh on anyone whose ever been in Cult TV. Critics seem to think it means they are crap, and therefore they never give them a chance. Don't you think critics are always really down on GA, despite the fact that she's one of the best actresses out there........... ....and has even proven that she can do theatre work! ;D[/glow]

[glow=red,2,300]Went up to London to see The Mighty Celt today!!! it was really great!!
GA was fab!
The greyhounds were cute!!!
The only dodgy accent was by Robert Carlyle - whose wasn't really that bad, just wasn't as goodwhen comparing it to GA's [who had completely mastered it, IMO]..
Totally brilliant, well worth the trip!! ;D [/glow]

So it is, thanks for looking Jenny. Shame it's the last day though and even if I could get over there today it started at 14.50 so I've missed it now anyway. According to the site it's on in Edinburgh from tomorrow. Just slightly too far to go, even for GA, maybe if she was there in person perhaps but not to see a film! lol Why is it always GA's films that have such limited distribution

LOl yeah, she should get the recognition she deserves and on a purly selfish note it would make it a lot easier to see her stuff ;D
Did you see/read the GMTV interview she did few weeks ago? Think that's the one where she hinted that there could be more theatre on the way. Or at least that she would like to do more ;D Hopefully something will come along soon ;D ;D
