A waste of time, completely unnecessary and potentially damaging. The show had its heyday a long time ago.

Potentially damaging yes, but you need to take a risk to have any kind of meaningful pay-off. Unnecessary, only in the sense that DD and GA don't need the money, and of course no TV is really necessary.
I see no reason why season 10 would not work. The writers would have had time to clear their heads, indeed a new generation of writers would be up for the challenge. The reason the show wasn't as good post season 6 was because of writer and actor fatigue. After a nice long rest, I think it would work. Of course it would never happen.

[shadow=black,left,900]Nope, GA in particular would never ever commit to a season long return again. So unless they change the characters it wont happen, and who's to say they wouldn’t if the film does go ahead and is successful enough, someone at Fox may consider it...Please, no!
However, theoretically they could do a stunning job on S10 if the cast were back on board. Right some of the wrongs inflicted on them and us towards the end, tell some great stories as they did for such a long time, add to the tapestry of the mythology with new ideas, and bring back some old and forgotten favourites...
But as it would have to be completely different from everything I enjoyed character wise, then I'd be happy for them to just do a film and leave it at that, who knows we might get a few films.[/shadow]

I think a film is the way to go, it's possible it will attract a random viewer more than repeats on TV. Then after seeing the film they might check out the show, well, we can hope. I can only assume that if the film starts we'll get the usual dodgy information like what happened with FTF, disinformation...X Files, never!

Cool interview Ahab! I think this interview with GA is the most promising we've heard about the next X-Files movie in a long time! I'm unsure whether a season 10 would be possible, as the actors have already given 10 years of their lives for it, and I understand they want to move on - but I could imagine that the film might inspire some spin offs, or a new version of the xfiles, with younger actors for the next generation or so - sounds dodgy, but might do well if it can keep them alive! All super exciting anyway, can we start planning our movie meet up already? :-D xXx

Certainly promising considering what DD/GA have said in the past.
I'd be interested in meeting once the film isn't released during my Finals.
