"" Yeah it's my least favourite Eels album but I still love it ""
Initially that sounded a bit harsh but I assume that's because of the high quality material from the band.
Novocaine for the Soul was the first alternative music song I fell in love with (REAL music as some people like to put it), about five years ago. After that I never returned to what you'd call mainstream music.
Up until now all I'd heard of the Eel's were their singles. Last week I got Souljacker, and I have to admit I'm hooked. Very rarely have I listened to an album where I like half of the songs, and considering I like all except three tracks on Souljacker, I'm pretty fond of it.
Fave tracks have to be Dog Faced Boy, Jungle Telegraph and World of Shit, but I still love all the other tracks too.

[glow=green,2,300]Yay It is a great album...and yeah when I said it was my least favourite I was trying to put emphasis on how great their other stuff is! World of Shit is fantastic...it's like on the previous album there is a song called It's a mouthafucker yet depsite it's title it's a really beautiful song I like Souljacker because it's much more raw than anything else they've done (John Parish the PJ Harvey guitarist is playing on it if ASSY is reading ) I really reccomend Beautifu Freak and Electro Shock Blues by them *HUGS* [/glow]

[glow=black,5,300] Assy is reading and is making note I'm well into Dancehall At Louisiana Point so would like to hear more from John Parish. Took a bit of listening to, but the songs on that album are really great, not true PJ, but is gives her something extra and a bit different, much as do the Desert Sessions 8 & 9. Lone; If you've not got into PJ, I'd recommend you having a listen to some of her stuff. Take your pick, it's all good! Still thinking about the Next CD Wiggs, thinking it might be a x2 CD compilation maybe called Passive/Aggressive - ah guess who'll be on there then! LOL Good Old Placebo! Had that on in my car today - think it's inspired me. Anyhow think I'll need to go in search of some more chilled out tracks 1st, most of the stuff I've bought lately has been a little on the heavy side! Oh Well! ;D [/glow]

Been listening to Paula Cole since 1994 Wiggy! LOL Got into her through Peter Gabriel, was watching TV late one night, & was lucky enough to catch his Secret World concert recorded in Italy. Was mightily impressed so bought the double CD (my 1st ever) even though I didn't have a CD player at the time! LOL I happened to get one for my 18th birthday a couple of months later (ooh the symmetry!) - and back to the point - Paula Cole was the guest vocalist for that tour.
Found her albums, This Fire & Harbinger & bought them on the strength of that work, and they're both really good especially This Fire (her 2nd album). Later I found Amen, but she seems to have gone all godsy, which I didn't find as interesting nor as good as her 1st 2 albums. Since then she's gone a bit quiet...
Have included several of her tracks on CD's - if you listen to Electric Boobs again - Red Rain is from Secret World Live. Have already short listed another from that to go on Passive/Aggressive. ;D

[glow=green,1,300] I know you know of her...that's why I mentioned her...I've been listening to parts of her first album (I think it is anyway...has Where have all the good cowboys gone...or whatever its called) but that's all I've heard of her...I first heard her name when I was watching Dawsons Creek with someone and they said she said the theme tune But yeah she has a Tori Amos vibe to her in that album I reckon I also remember you telling me a long time ago that your first album was a Peter Gabriel album, everytime he comes on TV or whatever I think of my ASS Like on the top 100 music videos...Sledgehammer was like number 2 0r 3 and I think about you...along with wondering why it wasn't number one...much better than Thriller! :S On my playlist at the momento...Nada Surf - Popular Eels - Fucker Matt Sharp - Mrs Jones Foo Fighters - Come Back (original - remix) Ray Parker Jr - Ghostbusters Noel Gallagher - Teotihuacan They Might Be Giants - Birdhouse in your soul [/glow]

Hey folks, might as well stick my two pennys worth in while I'm here. So, what've I been listneing to recently? A lot of The Who, especially Quadrophenia, but I had to give the CD back to my dad before uni sarted again so I'm stuck with the soundtrack version I love The Who soooooo much tho, hopefully there will be some new material from them later this year. Yey!!! ;D
Also been listening to: Muse - Absolution random Foo Fighters bits and bobs U2 - All That You Can't Leave Behind Moby - 18 And of course, Songs In The Key of X
Lots of other random choons that are kicking about on my computer too, like Jeff Buckley's Hallelujah, and this QUALITY tune called "Bradford We Love You" by a local street band called The Peace Artists - it's a bit of an anthemin our house! ;D ;D
I tend to stick to rock really, I like a bit of guitar to get my teeth into. Doesn't explain my soft spot for Keane though, although it has been a while since I listened to their album. I guess I tend to listen to the radio in preference to CD's a lot of the time tho - I get good Virgin reception at uni so I make the most of it while I can!
Emma ;D

I've heard some of PJ's stuff but I'm not too sure if it's really to my liking, but if I get the chance I'll give it another try.
It's interesting about the top 100 videos on Channel 4, me and a collegue of mine at work have been talking about it for the past couple of days.
One thing that we can agree on is we can't really understand why Peter Gabriel's "Sledgehammer" was no 2. Talking Head's "We're on a road to nowhere" featured animation very similar to that in Sledgehammer, and I believe I am right in saying Talking Heads released theirs years before Gabriel's attempt.
It does seem to me whoever was behind the idea for Sledgehammer essentually took a few seconds worth "We're on a road to nowhere" and turned it into a full blown video.
Then again, these polls are happening all the time nowadays (I'm sure MTV and VH1 have done about a dozen, of which Sabotage by Beastie Boys frequently rated top), so perhaps these polls are very random by nature.

[glow=green,1,300]Oh yeah I forgot about Road to nowhere...I once based one of my ideas on that when was making a music video last year Sledgehammer does take a few of the animation concepts, such as having every second frame deleted from Talking Heads...it's funny that you mentioned Sabotage too because that's one of my favourite videos and one that I also looked at a lot in my project Also Lone, I just remembered there is an Eels song called Lone Wolf which is on their Shootenanny album Emma, Halleuljah is one of my favourite songs ever...Jeff Buckley is like a god to me I'm not a radio listener but if I had to I'd probably try Virgin too...anything but Radio One The reception at my uni is awful...though it is in the middle of nowhere! *HUGS*[/glow]

Yeah, I'm sure the only reason why it came in at no2 was because most of the people who voted didn't have a clue about road to nowhere, otherwise it would probably have been the other way around. Yes, I still love Sabotage, Spike Jones has done a good number of quality videos. Funny you should mention that, I just found about the 'Lone Wolf' track yesterday.

I haven't listened a CD in full for about 2 months. Only really been listening to mp3s. Had exams etc. Recent computer problems hence my mini-disc not being active, in fact it's been gathering dust for c. 2 months. I can listen to familiar ish music on my computer but not really stuff that's new to me, as there's too many distractions on the computer. Have a bit of catching up to do, and I can't see it getting done any time soon. ;D My bad.

[glow=black,5,300] I never seem to pay much attention to Music Videos - they're pretty useless in my book really - if it's a good tune it'll speak for itself, and a good video wont turn a crap song into something worth paying attention to. Besides I'd much rather see artists and bands playing live, a much better gauge of the good and the no hoppers I find. Not been listening to much music myself, mostly cos I've been dragged away from my comfortable little hole with a PC and Stereo in close proximity, to do actual things. And as I never got round to replacing my Personal CD player when it packed up in the Autumn I can't listen on the bus anymore - which is a really bad thing when you get the loudest 2 women in the world gabbing at some ungodly hour each morning, sitting right in front of you. I picked up Tori Amos' - The Beekeeper today, gave it a quick run through at work, which sounded fine, will be playing it a lot this week Playing right now - Just like you imagined - Nine Inch Nails[/glow]
