I'm thinking of making a CD with a few tunes for my classmate who is unwell. However I don't really know to put on it as I don't have much of a clue what she's into it. I think she's seen Manu Chao live and either Arcade Fire or the Arctic Monkeys but other than that...
Maybe it would be better to give her stuff she hasn't heard of. I've a few tunes on my hard drive and dad has about 200 CDs so I'm not stuck for access to things. It could kinda be a 'get well soon' thing but this doesn't have to be reflected in the content.
Any suggestions would be most welcome

Hey Bazz, if she likes Arcade Fire you should definitely put some Frames on there for her, but you've probably already thought of that one! ;o) Oh, and Gemma Hayes LOL! I can't really think of anything else that reminds me of those bands - maybe the Cardigans for the rocky element ) Sure she'll love it, it's a good idea! Hope you're well *hugs* xXx

Depends what sort of music she likes I guess... but I think a mix of classic well known stuff with some new stuff would be good. Having been in a similar situation, only my friend wasn't unwell she'd broken up with someone - but wasn't sure whether to avoid downbeat stuff.... and put on over the top happy music. In the end I put some downbeat feeling sorry for your self stuff on it with a pick-me-up at the end Something off the new James album wouldn't go amiss The track "Monsters and Heroes and Men" is so poetic... (you can hear some of it, and read lyrics here) - i Just love the lyric "We are the drivers yet we feel driven".

Ta peeps. Wigs, how did you get your Xmas CD cover art done, Photoshop? I like how you wrote up the tracklisting too. I'd prefer not to do that part by hand. Any pointers?

Err...I forget what the cover was? Sorry. I usually create images in photoshop yeah - I did that with the card, with M&S. I use nero cover designer for the track listings usually...although my programme has a problem so I can only do a little of what it is capeable of, boourns. But yeah, I print them as my handwriting is hard to read I'll give you a new playlist suggestion...give me time

Prelude (Bach) The Mars Volta - Televators Alright, it's very nice...but if you ask a music snob like me I say lose The Mars Volta and Muse as they're both poo. I need that Maynard and Bowie song though, I had it once but lost it. A few songs that I keep listening to at the moment Peter Gabriel - Family Snapshot Sigur Ros - Inner Mer Synuer...something - it's track 2 on the new record anyhoo. Beirut - Postcards from Italy Yann Tiersen - summer 78 The Frames - Fighting on the stairs Broken Social Scene - Anthem for a 17 year old Girl Billy Joel - New York Situation Chemical Brothers - Salmon Dance Jeff Buckley - I know we could be so Happy Baby (If We Wanted to Be) Fleetwood Mac - Go Your Own Way Soul Coughing - $300 Death Cab For Cutie - Photobooth Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald - Dream a little Dream Moby - God Moving Over the Face Of... Paul Simon - Boy in the Bubble Radiohead - Ideoteque .....That's what my playlist says anyway (without duplicating artists). By the way, do you guys have a lastfm account? If so add me, I'm stinkinbishop But yeah, very cool Ahab. I'll check out some of the artists that I don't know there if you reccomend them?

OK, I may need to make another CD now as my classmate and friend is moving to Copenhagen. So...same again or change it up a bit? I might change the Pearl Jam's Daughter to Man of the Hour, what do you reckon? You're wrong about Muse, though.
