Finished s1 yet? There's a brilliant scene between Walter and Peter in the finale, very well acted. I've heard some people say it's what TXF should have been. I don't agree! Should have been? Ha ... it did pretty well afterall I haven't watched it in a few weeks sadly - did catch a bit of S2 by accident on TV. I watched an episode of Bones the other day (AWFUL acting) and it ripped off the X-Files so much that no only was Langly in it ... but they played the XF theme music before the main credits (they thought they had found an alien in Roswell whilst investigating a murder) ... an odd nod if there ever was one.

Hehe, I think they meant its approach to science and so forth. In fairness, I think TXF left me reaching for a dictionary more times than Fringe has, without being overwrought.
Bones doesn't appeal to me though I've heard it's touched on TXF a few times. I've seen a few promos and whilst I know promos are often misleading, they really made me want to avoid it.

Good choice, it's bloody awful! The lead female agent in it, forget her name, is terrible - not sure but I'm guessing she has social problems, she doesn't know humour etc - I couldn't figure her out. Haha X Files brodened my vocabulary I'll have to admit

Hehe! I'll steer clear of it. Yep, the dialogue was part of why the show worked!

I caught that episode on Sky maybe two weeks ago after noticing the title 'The X in the File' and pretty much agree with you opinion on it Wiggy. Suffice to say I won't be making any effort to watch any other episodes. Fringe on the other hand ;D Two much better nods to TXF in the first episode of the second season of Fringe, watch the first ep and see if you can spot them if you haven't already. Also episode two again has a number of nods to TXF episode 'Home' The Hughes house in this episode is clearly the same house where the Peacock's lived in 'Home' which is also the same house used in TXF 'Aubrey' as the Cokley house. Also the episode had simular themes to 'Home' Even though I'm only six episodes into season two of Fringe I've noticed a few former X locations since Fringe moved from New York to Vancouver Like old times posting here, till now not posted here in ages. I do check back now and again but it's been fairly inactive till recently ;D

That's the thing, though. I can appreciate the show is inspired by TXF and if they're use the same shooting locations then good for them, but some of the episodes have been rewrites of XF eps. I know all shows imitate others to some extent, but come on, the writers can do better than redoing DPO, Ice & Home.
I suppose I am a bit defensive about TXF, but when people say Fringe has better characters I have to laugh. Without Walter the show would be pretty much dead. TXF's characters felt a lot more settled (in terms of the show's groove) much earlier on - personal trauma included. Perhaps it's unfair to directly compare the two shows and Fringe is a good concept, it's just the execution doesn't work as much as it should, imo.

The first part of the s2 finale was not great. I hope part 2 is better.

Yep, one of the last ones in s2. I thought the s2 finale was fairly mixed, really.

Amazingly, it's been picked up for a 4th series, despite some ratings wobbles. That's a big commitment from Fox.

[shadow=black,left,900]A few words while I am here - Fringe is ace, has been something I have looked forward to most since the demise of XF. However I am worried about this S5 Arch - don't like the idea of where they are taking it - but in Walter I trust... they may pull things around and there seems there may be thoughts/plans on how to Right the Future - LOL sorry, just couldn't help myself! Brown Betty was both cheesy and funny, especially if you cleverly put yourself in the same kind of 'head space' as Walter just prior to watching - ahem - or so I am told... Bones is horrific and should be sponged from my memory by a observer style mind wipe ASAP, please and thankyou. [/shadow]
