No, that's not the title for the next film! Well, shortly it'll be almost 3 years since The Truth aired in the U.S. Are you still hungry for TXF? We had to put up with many bullshit rumours in 2004, there was the usual anonymus and alleged quotes atrributed to such and such. And of course the DD and GA not getting along thing got recycled once more. 2005 seems to be bringing better fortune, however, it's hard not to become tired of the same old DD line "well we all want to do it..." Perhaps when they all get some free time and complete their current projects they might start something. If it does get the green light, have the usual pinch of salt ready. I'll probably only start believing stuff when I see a trailer! Given the general cackiness of The Truth (IMO ) should a second film be even contemplated, could it damage the reputation of the show even more? I'm still a bit sceptical re: bums on seats/whether there's an appetite for it. Personally, I hope we get a good solid standalone.

One thing I'm sure of is that they are capable of making a very good movie, which I think will once again appeal to the masses alongside us die-hards. I think that the time off & this time taken to make all manner of decisions, can only help.
Rushing in after The Truth would have been a mistake. Especially considering what we got for our money in the end. I think there was a quote from one of the 2 leads saying that they were starting to miss their character - was it GA? - Anyway, there's no way they would have been in that kind of position after just a few months.
Lets hope they come back after a long break, rested & raring to have a crack at making the 2nd movie. I am still very hopeful that this will happen, maybe 2005 will be the year of the breakthrough.
Like you though Ahab, I'm going to wait for official word and try my very best not to listen to rumours of possible plot threads and inclusions. Maybe it's time to blow the dust out of my spoiler cupboard & see if any of the fairly light bulbs need to be replaced. It's been a long time since I was in there last...

Absolutely the talent is there to make an absolute cracker of a film.
I'd agree rushing in after The Truth would have been dodgy. I've no problem waiting, hell even if we had to wait til 2008 (10 years since FTF) but then age would be kicking in...
I think it was DD who was said he was missing Mulder or is that code for my career is up shit creek?

[glow=black,5,300] Well if I was going to bet on anyone to jump in at the 1st mention of Movie 2, that person would be DD. Shit Creek? I can smell it from here... oh look, is that a man in red speedos struggling & slithering about in the stinking slop? I believe so. GA meanwhile seems to be getting herself involved with a bunch of projects (How rude! LOL). It's going to take one hell of a deal to get her onboard, lets hope they value her as much as we do and get a proper one on the table! I think we could be waiting for a while longer for info to fill up your other thread Ahab. [/glow]

Yeah and good for GA. She definitely wants to get as far away from TXF as possible it seems and who can blame her, nae on a decade of her life.
Look forward to her creative output.

[glow=green,1,500]David Duchovny's career isn't necersarily up shit creek as you put it...I just think he needs to find a role to suit him and so far he hasn't really found it, he was okay in Evolution but he was trying to pull of more of a comedy role than he can do, Bill Murray he's not. He's good at playing serious yet with a sense of humour role...like Mulder and the guy in Playing God...I haven't really seen most of his later films they appear to be more comedy roles, I suppose after playing a character like Mulder for so long it's difficult for people to look at you as a different character, especially one in a very different role...a lot of actors are pretty much typecast in the same role because they play it so well...I think David Duchovny might be one of them...then again what do I know!? All I know is that DD is capeable of being a superb actor and still has a career once he finds a role to suit him...I haven't seen GA's plays or any of her latest stuff...I've only seen her in The Mighty and House of Mirth...oh and my sister has Princess Mononoke where GA does a characters voice (I wish she hadn't though...wasn't too bad I suppose though) I like how GA has been moving around playing really different roles and trying new things...that has to be comended as a actor, not many people do that now. lol I've noticed I've just contradicted myself...yeah DD tried different things but hasn't really been able to pull it off properly yet...though as I said I haven't seen GA's stuff yet. Who knows what can happen, by the time the second movie comes along (I want and think it will!) then it could be the other way around...give DD some credit now I don't care how long it takes for the movie...I've been waiting for Ghostbusters 3 since 1989!! (Though hopefully TXF2 won't be nearly as long lol) *HUGS*[/glow]

I'm not keeping my hopes up, I don't think they should do one if it's just going to murder the whole thing, but I heard that the film would be set pre Dogget and reyes, So hopefully it won't have anything to do with the ending. Not to be rude though, but David Duchovny is paying for his once youthfulness - he's aged about 10 years in about 2. But I hope they do it - but only if they make it good.

[glow=red,2,300]As much as i dislike Reyes, i'm not sure that doing a pre- Doggett and Reyes film will work!!! That would mean i'd have to cast my mind waaaaaaaaaaaaay back and do a huge rewatch!!LOL!! OH WELL, if it needs to be done i guess i can make that sacrifice ;D LOL!! [glow=green,1,500]Ha Betty, I thought that not long ago, I was like "okay erm this is going to mess my head up" ...but nah if it's going to be a pre-Doggett+Reyes standalone episode as it's believed to be then it's most likely going to be viewer-friendly to people who haven't even seen the show before ...I find it hard to believe that those people exist though [/glow]

'Ello! :-) Hey Wigs, nice one on the career of DD - I agree with you, he seems quite happy with himself and remembering Kydd was born shortly after he left the x-fiels (I think, dates fail me ATM!) so he has been concentrating on his family on top of that. As for Evolution, as much as I loved it, David did not like the film very much, to the extent that he said he wouldn't go and see it in the movies himself, it was more of a favour to Ivan Reitman who he worked with on Beethoven. I loved the fact that most of the actually funny sketches were improvisational scenes, as with many of his later films, showing he's really enjoying himself. Also I don't think DD needs to try to be funny LOL, his humour is very much different to the likes of the films he has been making! I also believe it's a credit to him that he's not focussing on his career so strongly, and instead helping with movies such as Connie & Carla (LOL at FF! Still not got over the ending LOL! *shockface* ) As for GA, think she's doing great and it's your own fault for not giong to see her! Hopefully she'll do some more and then I'll drag you along!:-D It's time for Wiggy to get his own autographs hehehehe:D:D (}) *hug* x Yeah but then again she should do the XF movie!:-D Not fond of the idea of a Doggett and Reyes style film - would much more prefer completely new and fresh characters rediscovering the X-files to that!:*) I hope Fox have learnt from their attempt to make $$$ lol Ahab! *Is a noromo really* *honest* Hehe love from Jenny :*) xXx

DVD Empire: The first question everyone wants to know is what have you been up to since The X-Files left the air? Chris Carter: I’ve taken a little bit of time for myself and gathered myself before starting something new - which I’ve done. I’m writing two different scripts for two different studios. Full transcript here: www.dvdempire.com/Content/interviews/chriscarter.aspI have edited your post as there isn't really any need to copy and paste something so long, providing a link is best. Thanks, Captain Ahab.
