If anyone can come up with a better title I'll changed it. Anyway, saw The Frames in the Point Depot, Dublin last night. I missed most of the support - The Chalets as the traffic was cack and the weather was shite BUT there was a surprise special guest and it was Damien Rice! He did Blower's Daughter Part 2, Volcano and Blower's Daughter anyway I rang Wiggy, think I left Jen a voicemail too. ;D Some of the lighting in parts was excellent, would have liked to see the spotlot on everyone at times, not just Glen. Set List:Finally Dream Awake Lay Me Down Love this one. What Happens When the Heart Just Stops did some Van Morrison here, it's not actually about DFor hehe. God Bless Mom (Glen's mam had to miss bingo to be at the gig, awww ;D) Fallen Slowly (New tune) People All Get Ready (Inspired by the Bible when Jesus was acting like a mad fella ;D, first heard it when Glen did it solo months ago, even better when it's the whole band) Seven Day Mile for some girl who texted into Today FM the night before. Happy (Glen asked two guys from the audience up on stage and they did some air drumming. ;D Rent Day Blues (celeeeeeeeebrate good times come on!) Pavement Tune !!! Fake Underglass (So fast and Pixies-esque) Revelate fuck yeah! Friend Or Foe, poor Mic. <Break> This was at about 22:25pm, but they way the left the stage you just knew it wasn't over! Leave (Glen solo, new tune) Early BirdStar Star with Pure Imagination "it's all yours Charlie" then Joe did Run by Snow Patrol and they finished with Most Beautiful Widow In Town This got a HUGE reception and the crowd singing Star Star was great. <Break> Suffer in Silence Fitzcarraldo feckin' brilliant lifted the roof off the place, man that violin! Fitzer is AMAZING live, especially indoors the sound of the violin reverberates off the walls! Red Chord with a bit of HeydayAlso Glen sung a bit of Wake Up by Arcade Fire. Hope the voicemails got through. There were cameras there...so who knows maybe a DVD...EDIT: According to Hot Press there will be a DVD, yay! Cartoon during Rent Day Blues, the film of Mic during Friend Or Foe... The crowd were great at signing along like all the quiet moments that slowly build up e.g. in God Bless Mom, Pavement Tune and then go mental, woo, but there was some talking during the quieter songs, boo.

Ahab and I have just come up with a great idea...recent gigs we went to...kinda like the 'what are you listening to' thread...but about a gig you've just been to. So erm...yeah last one I went to was Eels at Manchester Apollo last month (I said week before, oops)...along with our ASSY yar! We got to the venue around half 7 maybe 8 after some Strawberry Beer and VERY hot nachos! Thinking we'd have missed the support act...nope...it was some weird Russian animated video about a crocodile doctor and some weird monkey thing called Chebruaska or something...it was...hhmm...weird. The croc-Doc clogged up an oil drain with his ass and saved the lake...yay! Ahem, then there was like a weird montage video thing about eels over the years which Im guessing is a promo for an upcoming DVD maybe...ah well I'm hoping anyhoo. THEN they came on after they played Willy Wonkas Pure Imagination over the speakers...yay...the setlist was as follows: Fresh Feeling Packing Blankets Bride Of Theme From Blinking Lights From Which I Came/ A Magic World Son Of A Bitch Dirty Girl Ant Farm Jeannie's Diary My Beloved Monster Bus Stop Boxer Pretty Ballerina [The Left Banke] I Like Birds It's A m*th*rf**k*r Taking A Bath In Rust Railroad Man - E solo Trouble With Dreams - GREAT chet drum jam at the end Girl From The North Country [Bob Dylan] If You See Natalie I'm Going To Stop Pretending That I Didn't Break Your Heart Dead Of Winter Flyswatter/Novocaine For The Soul jam thing Losing Streak Climbing To The Moon ------------------------------------- Encore 1: Blinking Lights (For Me) Hey Man (Now You're Really Living) Things The Grandchildren Should Know (incl. Theme From Blinking Lights) ------------------------------------- Encore 2: Dog Faced Boy ------------------------------------- Encore 3: I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man [Prince] Mr. E's Beautiful Blues (outro jame thing) It was so good...in my opinon! It was a bit different too, kinda mellow for most part... it was billed as Eels with Strings and the band was made up of a four piece sting section, Big Al who played a stand up bass, sometimes piano/celesta and other instruments and the Chet who played pretty much everything lol (including a makeshift drum set which ASS said was a suit case or something...it sounded awesome anyway)...also his mam was in attendance apparently. They played 3 encores after saying there was no way that they could come back on. The first was only minutes after the main set, the second, the lights hadn't gone back up but people started to leave...people were actually at the back of the hall during it. And then during the last encore, the lights went up and lots of people left...but no ASSY and I are well cultured in gigdom and knew that if the roadies weren't going to clear the gear up then it wasn't over...so we went to the from with like maybe 40 others and the band came back out (in their PJs) and played a Prince cover and a jam of one of their songs...and they left...though we weren't too convinced, even when they WERE clearing the gear away...we were pretty much kicked out lol. But yay such a great gig, I've waited years to see them...apparently it's their last tour but I hope not. ASS tried playing the CD of the Goldfrapp gig she went to a few days before but nah, you know Bring on the next gig...maybe *HUGS*

It wasn't exactly last night, but I saw Black Bud the other week, after Towers of London, and Be Your Own Pet. Check out Black Bud if you like Jeff Buckley - they were just brilliant. Towers of London were just funny, and Be Your Own Pet were over rated but oh well. The only gig I have coming up is Test Icicles in February, but I expect they'll be something good coming up soon. My sister went to see faithless last night, she said they were amazing if you like that sort of thing.

I watched a few of those gigs at the Gonzo Barfly tour thing last month...test icicles are a BIG My Bloody Valentine rip off...although they still aren't too bad. Nobody comes close to Jeff Buckley

I accidentally saw Futureheads play in Newcastle's HMV today. I was pretty suprised by how 'okay' they sounded in that environment....I left after a few songs though, for obvious reasons.
Might be going to see Dinosaur Jr who are playing my uni yeah!!
